This site will allow you to access the student version of your CP Biology textbook.  The username is "nchspanthers" , and the password is "k7v2".

This site features tutorials on almost everything that we talk about in Biology I & II.  We will often use this tutorials in the computer lab during class.  If you need/want to use this resource at home the user name is "nchs-ls", and the password is "ls0809".  Click on "Life Science" and then select the tutorial/subject that you are working on.  (THIS IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY!)

This site will be used in class as a preview for our fetal pig dissections. It provides great information in a practical way.  It will also be helpful in studying for the lab practical exam at the end of the unit.

Activities/Games:
Virtual Lab: Energy in a Cell
This virtual lab will help you understand how the cell works (literally), because doing work requires ENERGY!

Protein Synthesis CBL
This is a game about DNA, RNA and Protein Synthesis.

The Virtual Microscope
This is a fully functional virtual microscope that allows you to practice using a compound light microscope, and learn to troubleshoot problems that you may have when you actually have to use one in class.

This site has several activities to help you practice building food webs and understanding how energy flows through the an environment.

This activity will help you understand how natural selection can drive evolution.

This activity will hep you explore how differential reproduction can effect evolution.

DNA: The Double Helix
The Nobel Prize sponsored game will help you understand the double helix of DNA and how complimentary base pairs are used in DNA replication.

DNA Battleship
Can you beat the captain with your knowledge of DNA Replication?  Give it a shot.

The Genetic Code Game
This Nobel Prize sponsored game will help your understand protein synthesis...plus it is really fun.

Mr. Doc's DNA/RNA Challenge
This "jeopardy" style challenge will test your knowledge on all things DNA and RNA. It has questions on everything from structure, to DNA replication, to protein synthesis.

Chickens, and Lemmings, and Genetics, Oh My!
This activity will help you explore how to use punnett squares to make predictions about potential genetic outcomes.
